L-3 Coleman Aerospace Wins Second Long Range Air Launch Target (LRALT)

ORLANDO, Fla., October 3, 2008 – L-3 Coleman Aerospace has won a follow-on award from the U.S. Air Force to provide a second Long Range Air Launch Target (LRALT) as part of the Missile Defense Agency’s Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system. The award increases the contract value to $36 million and is expected to create 40 new jobs in the local community.

“We are extremely pleased to provide target rockets that help demonstrate THAAD's important contribution to the United States missile defense capability,” said Lou Deeter, president of Coleman Aerospace. “This win further underscores our value in the target marketplace and adds more highly qualified talent to our growing workforce.”

The THAAD missile system is a transportable defensive weapon system designed to protect high value strategic or tactical sites, such as airfields or population centers. The two LRALTs from L-3 will serve as intercept targets for upcoming THAAD tests.

L-3 Coleman Aerospace, based in Orlando, Fla., provides ballistic missile targets and launch services for the Missile Defense Agency as well as engineering and analytical services for other government agencies, including the Department of Defense, NASA and their industrial partners.
