9.4.08
ORLANDO, Fla., September 4, 2008 – L-3 Coleman Aerospace has delivered aircraft extraction hardware to Jacobs Engineering for use in support of airdrop testing of the NASA Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV) parachute system. The CEV is part of the NASA Constellation program.
“These critical NASA parachutes contribute to the safety of astronauts as they return to Earth. It is an honor to support Jacobs Engineering in the test and development of the CEV parachute system,” said Lou Deeter, president of L-3 Coleman Aerospace.
The Coleman hardware will be used in the extraction of NASA's Parachute Test Vehicle from a C-17 aircraft. The parachutes are used to bring space capsules safely to ground during normal re-entry or mission abort procedures.
L-3 Coleman Aerospace, based in Orlando, Fla., provides ballistic missile targets and launch services for the Missile Defense Agency as well as engineering and analytical services for other government agencies, including the Department of Defense, NASA and their industrial partners.
